Battery Materials

Lithium hydroxide

Lithium hydroxide is a lithium source for cathode production; specify the commercial form, including anhydrous or monohydrate grades.

Material-specific processing priorities

Control moisture uptake, caking and carbonation. Assess enclosed feeding, controlled atmosphere and sealed collection together with contact-material compatibility and gas dew point.

Process selection

Moisture-controlled feeding and gas handling

These are starting points for selection and trials. Choose steps for the actual target; not every material needs every operation.

  1. 01

Check moisture and phase: distinguish free water, crystal water and moisture-induced caking; establish whether drying is allowed and within what temperature range.

  2. 02

Stabilize feed and processing: condition where needed, compare milling or deagglomeration under controlled gas, and track heating and adhesion.

  3. 03

Classify, collect and package in an enclosed path: limit renewed moisture uptake and check filters, line hold-up and caking after conveying.

Selection rationale and related equipment

Choose the processing action for the feed before comparing configurations.

Select the mill together with dry-gas, temperature-control and collection systems. Closed-loop or inert gas does not automatically solve moisture problems; assess dew point, phase retention and stable operation.

Information to prepare before a trial

Chemical form, free/bound water, moisture uptake, acceptable temperature, caking strength, gas dew point, target moisture and packaging conditions.

Also provide planned throughput, continuous or batch operation, intended use, gas/heat utilities and available sample quantity. State measurement methods and dispersion conditions for D10/D50/D90 so trials are comparable.

How to evaluate trial results

Moisture and phase before/after processing, size, wall residues and discharge flow, followed by caking checks under representative storage.

Trial records should link feed batch and condition with configuration, operating conditions, collection and measurement methods. Throughput, energy and product specifications depend on tests under agreed conditions and should not be transferred across materials or grades.
