How it works and what it targets
Retrofits are constrained by existing equipment, buildings, utilities and controls. Insufficient milling, distribution tails, deposits, unstable conveying, filter pressure drop and moisture variability can be connected. Identify the limiting step first; replacing one machine may not resolve the line-level issue.
Reference process steps
- 1Collect nameplates, flowsheets, operating data and quality/fault records.
- 2Assess bottlenecks and compare settings changes, component replacement and unit expansion.
- 3Agree interfaces, downtime and integration testing, then compare against an established baseline.
Configuration and operating conditions
Process and mechanical interfaces
Check feeding, airflow, pressure, contact materials, dimensions, loads and service access. Recalculate gas circuits and recycle when adding classification or collection.
Controls and implementation
Check PLC/DCS interfaces, signals, interlocks and original-supplier constraints. Plan offline preparation, shutdown work, individual tests and loaded integration. Site assessment determines the actual scope.
Acceptance and documentation
Compare throughput, quality and energy before/after with the same feed and product targets. Update flowsheets, spares, operating and maintenance documents, with third-party equipment responsibilities agreed in advance.
Information needed for selection
Provide equipment model/age, flowsheet/layout, operating trends, main issues, objectives, available shutdown windows and site constraints.
Discuss selection inputsTrial and acceptance considerations
Establish the baseline before defining the feasible changes and acceptance metrics. Assessment determines feasibility, supply scope and expected improvement.
